An invitation to LWBC’s 2012 Forum

    LWBC's Forum 2012 will be held on September 28th and 29th in Quebec City. The Forum provides the opportunity to participate in sessions on human rights and economic activity led by experts and practitioners in the field, as well as to learn more about issues relating to rights and international justice.

    Friday, September 28th
    Human Rights and Economic Activity: New Challenges for Multinational Actors, Governments and Local Communities

    6.00hrs recognized by the Quebec Bar

    Topics to be discussed over the course of this day-long workshop include rules and norms governing both national and international aspects of corporate social responsibility, dispute resolution mechanisms for conflicts arising between businesses and local communities, the role of governments in issues around human rights concerns and transnational industry, as well as best practises for the involvement and empowerment of all stakeholders in the process of developing natural resources.

    Beyond Borders: Making International Justice a Reality

    4.25hrs recognized by the Quebec Bar

    During its ten year history, LWBC has worked on a range of human rights issues around the world. The projects in which LWBC has been involved include: Advocacy on behalf of vulnerable parties in post-earthquake Haiti, prosecution of dictators and other persons bearing a high level of responsibility in severe human rights violations and support and protection of human rights lawyers.
