Mining and Corporate Social Responsability: Impressions from the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Conference, March 4-7, 2012, Toronto
In the last 2 weeks of February, 2011 I went to Guatemala as a volunteer cooperant with LWBC to assist in drafting the victims’ arguments in a case before the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights (“the Commission” or “IACHR”). Specifically, I was helping the lawyers of the Bufete Juridico Popular de Rabinal, to draft the additional observations on the merits in their case representing victims from the Maya Achi community living in the village of Chichupac and in neighbouring areas of the Baja Verapaz region of Guatemala.
