International human rights lawyer with over twenty years of practice at the global level. Currently focused on the global climate crisis and human rights accountability, serving as Law and Policy Advisor for Stop Ecocide Canada; Vice-Chair of the Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley; and member of the Swiss Board of the Mukwege Foundation.
As senior advisor on human rights and security policies with the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2009-2019, served as lead author of UN reports on counterterrorism, global surveillance practices, and the use of force. Previously served as legal advisor to international commissions of inquiry on Darfur, and on Lebanon; Special Advisor to Mary Robinson (Chair, GAVI Board); advisor to the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health; attaché to the ICRC; and human rights officer with the UN field mission in Rwanda.
